Aged Care and Retirement
Australia is being transformed by an ageing population with over a quarter now over the age of 65. The demand for residential care, accommodation and community based services is growing rapidly. Expanding opportunities across various models of care and within privately or government funded accommodation are similarly increasing.
Combining over 25 years experience across both the aged care and retirement sectors and our long-term involvement in peak bodies and industry groups, our team is recognised as a market leader.
In aged care, our team understands that legal issues must be viewed in the context of the business as they have broader consequences, particularly in the highly regulated environment. For example, compliance issues may impact employment and financing with the need to negotiate services arrangements, taxation consequences and changed risk assessments.
Our advice is end-to-end comprising of approvals, structuring and establishment, to financing and development, approvals accreditation and the management of care, operational issues and compliance in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. We also currently act for a significant portion of providers in the funded and unfunded home care sector.
In the retirement living sector, we have advised in the operation, establishment or redrafting of over 50 retirement village schemes Australia wide and have established and registered over 12 retirement villages in Queensland.
Given the highly regulated and constantly evolving legal environment, our team of specialists know and keep abreast of current and emerging industry issues and have capacity to respond in innovative and diverse ways.
Our team understands day-to-day industry operations, the drivers of policy and the complexities of government regulation. Most importantly, we listen to our clients and act upon their specific needs.
