Sustainability

We are a member of the Australian Legal Sector Alliance (AusLSA), having assisted in its establishment in 2010, and through a Board position for over a decade have been heavily involved in the advocacy of the legal industry’s impact and response across the pillars of People, Workplace, Community, Environment and Governance. Through AusLSA we have worked collaboratively with our peers and stakeholders to inspire and facilitate sustainable practices across the legal sector more broadly.

In addition, our environmental initiatives are coordinated by our Legal Environment Action Forum, known as LEAF. LEAF proactively addresses ways our firm can deliver positive environmental outcomes for McR and our clients, endorsing processes and establishing metrics to track progress and educating staff to ensure engagement and awareness of initiatives. We are proud of our achievements to date, significantly reducing our emissions across our offices, but continue to challenge ourselves and everything we do. In our recent Brisbane and current Sydney premises projects we are embedding new ways of working and delivering legal services learnt during and since the pandemic e.g. electronic document signing, online meetings and webinars to reduce travel, online court hearings, PEXA online conveyancing, electronic payments, and electronic matter management.

The Michael Roche Scholarship

In honour of the late Michael Roche, colleague and dear friend of the McCullough Robertson family, through our partnership with Queensland University of Technology, we have committed $100,000 to establish and support the Michael Roche Scholarship.

This scholarship is not only an opportunity to pay tribute to, and remember, the late Michael Roche and his contributions to both McCullough Robertson and the Queensland resources industry more broadly, but this scholarship also aims to help further recipients’ knowledge, and significantly boost their contribution to innovation within the resources and renewables industries, in the areas of environment, sustainability or climate change.
