Kirby specialises in structuring and negotiating complex commercial arrangements, including for the procurement of ICT; supply arrangements for goods and services; and protection and commercialisation of intellectual property.
She acts for both public and private sector clients across State and local government, health, education, transport and infrastructure, banking and finance, agriculture, and energy and resources industries.
Kirby regularly advises on software, cloud computing and outsourcing arrangements (including in contracting under the QITC Framework), as well as other general commercial procurement and contracting matters.
Her broad experience means she is able to navigate key issues and risks, including in regulated markets, in order to deliver commercially focussed results for her clients.
Queensland Government clients
Regularly drafts and advises on ICT agreements under the Queensland Government QITC Framework for various University, Hospital and Health Service, local government and other Queensland government clients. Key projects have included student management system; online library services platform; digital engagement solutions; medication management system; and case management solution.
Kirby has undertaken three separate secondments to the Queensland Health legal team during which she has advised on a wide range of projects for the purchase of goods, services and ICT; intellectual property ownership and licensing arrangements; and Queensland Health’s participation in cooperative research centres.

Kirby has undertaken two separate secondments to the BOQ legal team, focussing on technology procurement and commercial contracting issues. She has advised on a range of key projects across the Bank of Queensland and Virgin Money Australia entities.
