About Peter
Peter is a specialist tax practitioner with over 40 years’ experience acting for corporations, professional practices, SMEs and families. Known for his commercial approach and friendly manner, his expertise lies in understanding the taxation, legal and commercial issues affecting his clients and their businesses and investments.
Peter’s expertise covers taxation and commercial law with an emphasis on tax planning, structuring and restructuring businesses, asset protection, business succession planning, estate planning, family business and intergenerational planning, and strategic retirement planning.
Significantly in the mergers and acquisition area, his experience includes transactions valued at over $1 billion with a career highlight being the complex transaction and transformation of a health group to become investor ready.
Focusing on business succession, Peter has acted for large families, offering strategic advice on intergenerational transfers and successions. He has particular strengths in navigating family business dynamics especially for those involved in the business and siblings who are not.
Additional to his consultant role which sees Peter continue his 30-year-plus association with the firm, Peter is also the Founder of Transition Planning Australia which helps business owners, professionals, and employees, plan their transition from business or full-time work to their next phase addressing both emotional and commercial aspects.
Throughout his career Peter has regularly been a speaker for The Tax Institute, including as Keynote Speaker at The National Tax Convention, the Australian Society of CPAs, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, Queensland Law Society, and numerous other organisations.
