Peter is a corporate and commercial lawyer with significant experience advising clients on both domestic and cross-border unregulated mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings, establishment and operation of joint ventures, infrastructure arrangements, financing and security arrangements and all manner of commercial contracting.
Peter’s extensive experience includes advising clients in resources, technology, agribusiness, logistics, and the hotels and leisure sector.
He has worked for some of the world’s largest mining companies, advising on structuring and establishment of major resources joint ventures and the sale and purchase of major mining assets.
In the technology sector, Peter has advised software start-ups on acquisitions, capital raisings, IPOs and commercial contracting arrangements. His work has followed the growth profile of clients from start-ups to publicly listed companies.
Peter also has significant experience in agribusiness with a particular focus on the sugar and beef industries.
Working with the hotel and leisure sector, Peter has advised clients on the sale of single and portfolio assets, establishment and structuring of joint ventures and partnerships, hotel management agreements, portfolio management agreements and franchise agreements.
Advised on the nationwide restructure by way of scheme of arrangement and in relation to its Red Mountain joint venture with BHP Mitsui Coal. Acted for Peabody in its acquisition of a minority interest in the Burton coal project from Thiess Investments Pty Ltd. Advised Peabody in relation to its Red Mountain joint venture with BHP Mitsui Coal.
Advising Jellinbah Group in relation to their Lake Vermont Joint Venture and Jellinbah East Joint Venture.
Whitehaven Coal Limited
Advising Whitehaven on the acquisition of Winchester South and Vickery projects.
Mitsui Coal Holdings
Advising Mitsui Coal Holdings on a complex exercise of pre emptives and subsequent sale of its interest in the Dawson seam gas assets. This transaction involved three separate joint ventures and multiple vendors and purchasers including Anglo American, Westside Corporation Limited, Mitsui E&P Australia Pty Ltd and Molopo Energy Limited
