Open Pit Continuation Project

McCullough Robertson is proud to have supported Evolution Mining in securing development consent for the Open Pit Continuation Project at Cowal.

This major expansion includes extending the E42 pit, developing three new open pits, and continuing ore processing at up to 9.8 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the mining lease extended to 2045.

The project will deliver substantial economic benefits to the State and local communities while leveraging innovative technologies to minimise environmental impacts and enhance rehabilitation efforts.

Our team provided strategic assistance across the environmental assessment process, biodiversity conservation requirements, native title and cultural heritage considerations, and the negotiation of a voluntary planning agreement.
