McCullough Robertson named best large workplace in 2016 Queensland Mental Health Week Achievement Awards
McCullough Robertson has been recognised for its dedication to improving social justice and raising mental health awareness during Mental Health Week 2016.
The law firm proudly took home the Open Minds Workplace Award in the 2016 Queensland Mental Health Week Achievement Awards, held Friday 14 October.
The Award recognises the firm’s achievements in providing a range of mental health and wellbeing initiatives to staff across Australia.
The Awards have a strong history in the mental health services community, providing recognition for individuals, groups and organisations devoted to improving the understanding and awareness of mental health in Queensland.
McCullough Robertson was nominated by Mental Illness Fellowship Queensland, which the firm has partnered with across a number of initiatives aimed at making McCullough Robertson a great place to work.
The firm’s work in the broader community was also acknowledged, particularly its support for the Homeless Persons’ Legal Clinic, Not for Profit Law and various community centres for which it provides the legal and administrative support.
Open Minds CEO Marie Fox said the Awards were an opportunity to break down the stigma associated with mental illness and recognise Queensland’s mental health heroes.
“Each year, one in five Australians will experience a mental illness and it’s estimated that only 35% of those people will access a health service. We need to do everything we can to remove the stigma and I believe one way to do that is to celebrate the organisations and individuals who work tirelessly to support people with mental illness,” Ms Fox said.
