Kara is a Special Counsel in our Planning and Environment Team specialising in environmental, planning, local government and property law. She has over 13 years experience appearing as advocate across various jurisdictions in the Supreme Court and Land and Environment Court.
Kara advises various state government agencies, state-owned corporations, local councils, private developers and energy companies.
Kara’s broad and in depth knowledge of planning, environment, local government and property law allows her to provide strategic, practical and commercial advice resulting in high quality and cost effective results for her clients.

Experience
Land and Environment advocacy
Acting as advocate across all jurisdictions of the Land and Environment Court including regularly appearing as advocate in Class 1 and Class 4 proceedings.
Supreme Court
Acting for private clients in enforcing their rights under various easements in the Supreme Court.
Property development
Advising various private developers and entities in relation to the creation, purchase and sale of biodiversity credits under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016.
Airports Act
Advising WSA Co, the company established to develop and operate Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird) Walton) Airport on various matters under the Airports Act 1996 and associated regulations including carrying out a secondment over a period of approximately 6 months.
State and Federal Government
Advising government agencies on processes and procedures under Part 5 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 including wholesale review of their REF processes.
Local government
Advising on a local council’s planning agreement framework including conducting a wholesale review of its planning agreements template and various policies relating to same.
