Kara has more than seven years’ experience in property, local government, and planning and environmental law. She acts for local councils, property developers, private schools, corporate clients and not for profits.
She advises across the full spectrum of property law including acquisitions and disposals, put and call option agreements, leases and licensing including agricultural licenses, easements, covenants and rights of way, land subdivisions, complying development and strata schemes.
Her local government and environmental and planning law experience includes acting for clients in the Land and Environment Court, and prosecutions in the Local Court. She also advises clients on environment protection licences and acts for clients in prosecutions brought by the Environment Protection Authority.
Kara regularly presents for the Urban Development Institute of Australia NSW professional development courses on planning and environmental law and has also presented at professional development courses run by Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia.
Cobbora Holding Company
Acting for Cobbora Holding Company in relation to acquisition and disposal of land and other assets including water access licences, land management (both freehold and Crown lands) and land access arrangements.
Acted for NewCold in acquisition of industrial land in Truganina, Victoria for NewCold’s second cold store facility and provided advice to NewCold on clearing of native vegetation on the acquired land.
Acted for NewCold in conducting purchaser due diligence enquiries on MB01 and MB02 properties. Work included conducting legal due diligence investigations and providing reports required by NewCold’s financier and preparation and negotiation of the terms of the due diligence reliance documents with NewCold’s financier.
Acting for Ascham School in class1 appeal against Woollahra Council’s refusal of the erection of a substation at the school and acting for Kiama Municipal Council in a class 1 appeal against the refusal of a dual occupancy and Torrens title subdivision.
Cessnock City Council
Providing advice to Cessnock City Council on the requirements of road dedication.
Advising on and assisting Landcom with a complex voluntary planning agreement for a large land release which was the subject of a joint venture between Landcom and another private developer.
