Highly principled, Peter aims to resolve matters with minimum disruption to his clients.

Peter is a partner in McCullough Robertson’s litigation and dispute resolution team, practising primarily in the area of commercial litigation.  Peter has experience working across a number of industries in relation to litigious matters, as well as non-litigious matters requiring court approval.

Peter’s primary areas of expertise are dealing with contractual disputes, judicial review matters and misleading or deceptive conduct and other competition, consumer or defamation claims.

Peter has extensive experience working with private and public sector organisations. His areas of industry expertise include mining and resources, intellectual property and technology, property and development, and agribusiness.

His administrative law and judicial review experience includes advising government clients in relation to proper decision making processes, and acting for government and private clients in the Supreme Court of Queensland and Federal Court of Australia in relation to reviews under the Administrative Decisions (Judicial Review) Act (Cth), the Judicial Review Act 1991 (Qld), and the Judiciary Act 1903 (Cth).

Peter also advises and acts for clients in relation to schemes of arrangement under the Corporations Act and manages litigation due diligence for corporate clients in relation to acquisitions or IPOs.

His key experience includes:

  • acting for QGC in judicial review proceedings before the Federal Court of Australia (QLD registry) about decisions of the Native Title Registrar not to register Indigenous Land Use Agreements entered into for the purpose of the QCLNG Project
  • acting for a senior company executive in prosecution proceedings associated with an environmental incident and alleged employee misappropriation
  • advising a national software developer and provider in a contractual dispute about the implementation and servicing of a solutions software package
  • appearing for Adani Mining Pty Ltd in responding to challenges in the Land Court of Queensland to its mining lease and environmental authority applications for the Carmichael Coal Mine Project
  • acting for the French owner of a global skincare brand in litigation, including defending an interlocutory injunction application, regarding the termination of its Australia and New Zealand distributor of 40 years, a business with a turnover of $85M, and
  • acting for the Department of Transport and Main Roads in responding to a judicial review application of a resumption of land decision.

Peter has also previously worked in-house at the global head office of an international travel group.  During his time in house, Peter assisted with dispute matters as well as commercial negotiations, specifically for travel service and software supplier contractual arrangements.
