Barbara Bogiatzis

Barbara has over 24 years’ experience in public sector law, local government, planning and environment law and property development.  Having held senior legal positions within government and local government, and at Crown Law, she brings valuable insight into the workings of government to all deliberations and is respected for her specialised knowledge.

Barbara acts for public sector clients including state and local governments as well as a variety of nonprofit organisations in all aspects of their business.  She advises clients in the areas of affordable housing and social housing, particularly at the interface of these industries with the public sector. 

Barbara advises government and local government entities on commercial ventures, risk and compliance relevant, governance, funding agreements, procurement and probity, community infrastructure and sustainable development.

Since gaining accreditation in Probity, Barbara has been able to advise clients on correct procedure regarding procurement, probity issues in contracting, and transparency and accountability in organisations and businesses.

Recent examples of Barbara’s work include advising on affordable housing ventures undertaken by nonprofit organisations, including the National Rental Affordability Scheme, Local and State government entities.

She regularly advises nonprofit organisations on governance and structuring particularly in the context of social infrastructure projects.

Barbara has maintained her links with the local government industry after working as Manager of Legal Services at Townsville City Council in the earlier part of her career.  She has an interest in legal education and is a Sessional Academic staff member and part-time lecturer at Queensland University of Technology Law School.
