Michael specialises in all aspects of project delivery and has advised some of Australia’s largest companies in the delivery of mining and associated infrastructure.
With 20 years legal experience in both private practice and in house roles, he has an intimate knowledge of the advantages and disadvantages of the various contracting methods such as design and construct, EPCM and alliancing.
Michael previously held the role of General Counsel and Company Secretary for an ASX listed company that provides engineering, project delivery and operations services to the global resources industry.
His understanding and insight into the resources and construction industry comes from extensive experience working in-house in the sector. He has an ability to provide practical and targeted legal advice with an awareness of the relevant risks and practical issues affecting industry.
Michael has been involved in mining projects across Australia including the alliance contracts for the design and construction of the country’s largest coal handling and preparation plants. He has also advised mining service providers such as port and rail operators, mining equipment suppliers, contractors and consultants on project delivery and procurement.
He also has experience in preparing mining infrastructure and operations contracts for projects in South Africa, Mozambique, Chile and Mongolia.
He is a regular guest speaker at industry and legal conferences.
