A specialist tax practitioner, Hayden’s focus is on the mining, energy and resources sectors advising on inbound and outbound international tax structures and corporate transactions such as mergers, acquisitions and disposals.
Hayden has advised on complex tax audits and disputes with the Australian Tax Office (ATO) on issues such as tax consolidation, hybrid financial instruments, value shifting, cross-border restructures, and acquisitions and disposals of mining tenements.
He is experienced in obtaining rulings from the ATO on a timely basis for both public corporate transactions as well as for privately-held groups.
Hayden’s recent experience includes advising on taxation aspects of a restructure of interests in a Western Australian iron-ore project and advising vendors on the structuring and sale of exploration projects into a listed company.
As well as regularly lecturing for a number of industry and professional bodies, Hayden is the Deputy Chair of the Queensland State Council of The Taxation Institute.
