Tim is a resources expert, acting on project approvals, project delivery and regulatory advice for mining and gas companies at all stages of the exploration, development and production lifecycle.

During the past 11 years, he has advised the resources sector on these matters, including as an in-house lawyer at Santos.

Tim helps his clients navigate the multiple regulatory regimes required in order to get their projects approved and operational.  His deep understanding of State and Federal environmental regulation enables him to deliver seamless advice throughout every stage of a resources project.

Tim’s broad scope of work includes all aspects of project delivery and government liaison on regulatory and strategic matters, impact assessment processes, compliance and incident response and project acquisition and divestment.  He has prepared and implemented legal environmental risk mitigation strategies for projects across Australia, including for some of the world’s largest such as BHP Billiton’s Olympic Dam.

Most recently, Tim has led the team completing the legal review of Adani Mining’s environmental impact statement for the greenfield Carmichael mine and rail project, which will be the largest coal mine in Queensland involving investments worth more than $7 billion.

Beyond his project delivery work, Tim advises on the implications of the carbon tax regime, covering strategy, development and product supply.

Tim has contributed to numerous international industry journals, including the Australia chapter of The Projects and Construction Review, published by Law Business Research. The book provides an in-depth analysis of the most important issues related to resources and construction law practice.
