William practices in the areas of information technology, telecommunications, intellectual property and competition law. He also regularly provides advice to assist clients in complying with their privacy and other regulatory obligations.  

William was admitted as a solicitor in England in 2012, having completed a two year training contract, and initially practised in England as a corporate/commercial lawyer.

William has developed a strong grounding in the ICT sector and provides commercial advice to public and private sector clients in that space. 

William enjoys working closely with commercial teams and in-house legal counsel to reach solutions to challenging issues. He distils technical legal understanding into concise and easy-to-digest advice.

Examples of William’s work include:

  • advising a national telecommunications carrier in relation to commercialising priority access to specific wavelengths of its wireless mobile network
  • advising a national telecommunications carrier in relation to supplying management of third parties’ leased dedicated wireless mobile network spectra
  • advising a state government corporation responsible for high voltage electricity transmission in relation to various equipment and infrastructure co-location and shared-access arrangements
  • negotiating a suite of multi-source back-end supply agreements for a client’s ‘connected home’ product and providing ongoing go-to-market strategy advice
  • advising an airport in relation to a telecommunications carrier’s right to install ‘low-impact facilities’ and the surrounding regulatory regime
  • providing local jurisdiction advice to a number of UK law firms to assist them in advising their clients on Australian jurisdiction matters
  • advising a state government corporation in relation to its procurement of an outsourced cloud-based finance and accounting solution, and
  • advising an overseas corporation in relation to the various options available to it for commercialising its patented technology in Australia.
