Michael is based in Sydney and specialises in advising major clients within Australia and internationally, particularly those in the mining sector. He is well respected as an authority on trade with Asia.
Having been a partner of major law firms in Australia since 1975, Michael is astute and approachable and achieves clear, commercially sound results in complex matters.
Michael has been a driver of significant coal industry deals and joint ventures, including the Mitsui-Anglo Alliance and the Bengalla Coal Joint Venture. His dealings have also spanned oil and gas projects as well as base metals and precious metals.
He has advised on regional forest agreements and other matters including arranging timber supply and export contracts. His experience includes principal corporate law adviser to Forestry Tasmania.
Michael is a director of transnational companies in the industrial and mining sectors and he has been a director of coal mining companies and other mining and oil and gas exploration companies.
He is a member of the Australian Mining and Petroleum Law Association, the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators and the International Bar Association (Resources Section).
