Belinda specialises in intellectual property law and heads up the Intellectual Property and Competition practice.  She advises clients in a wide range of industries on intellectual property protection and management, the development of new brands, franchising advice and compliance, opposition and infringement disputes, privacy advice and compliance, general trade mark matters and passing off in Australia and internationally.

Operating a full-service trade marks practice, with over 4,000 trade marks under management, Belinda also has a wealth of knowledge based on her dealings with IP Australia and facilitating the filing, management and enforcement of trade marks on a world-wide basis.

Belinda also acts in relation to intellectual property audits and due diligence, domain name protection and disputes, business name registration and advice as well as the transfer, licensing, commercialisation and acquisition of intellectual property including trade marks, designs, patents and copyright.  

Belinda assists a broad range of clients from start-up businesses to major publicly listed companies, including a number of well-known brands. Her clients include travel and accommodation businesses, mining and engineering companies, hotels, airports, agricultural companies, health providers, technology companies, large retail brands, FMCG companies, charities and many international referring firms.

Her dual qualifications in law and international business provide a valuable understanding of the challenges facing business today, particularly in an electronic age and she is known for her ability to tailor innovative, yet practical solutions.

  • advising a pre-eminent Australian agribusiness on strategic branding and trade mark enforcement matters
  • acting for an ASX100 listed company in intellectual property infringement matters both in Australia and internationally
  • acting in UDRP and auDRP domain name complaint proceedings
  • advising franchisors on intellectual property protection, preparation of franchise agreements and disclosure documents and compliance with the Franchising Code of Conduct
  • acting for clients on cross-boarder social media brand protection, including issuing take down and infringement notices
  • advising one of the world’s biggest real estate and leisure developers in successful trade mark opposition and infringement matters central to its Australian portfolio
  • advising fashion labels on trade mark, brand and copyright protection
  • advising on complex chain of title issues and intellectual property audits
  • acting in a complex cross-border trade mark opposition matter for mining company
