Regional knowledge and a strong understanding of the Hunter Valley’s economic diversity will see local lawyer Michelle Sirasch promoted to Partner of leading independent law firm McCullough Robertson in their Newcastle office in July.

Michelle is also the first female Partner to be appointed at the office and leads a wider team of 18, 13 of which are also female.  The gender balance in the Newcastle office is in contrast to the broader legal profession, which until recently has generally been regarded as a very male dominated industry.

As a property and mining expert who assists clients across the resource sector, government authorities and various corporations, particularly in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley, Michelle has a strong understanding of the local economy and what is driving business growth in the region.

“There is something about Newcastle that has always drawn me back here.  It’s the people and the diversity of the economy here that makes the work I do so interesting – from resources to tourism and property development and the renewal of the CBD – the Hunter Valley is where the action is,” Michelle said.

“I’m delighted to be the first female Partner in McCullough Robertson’s Newcastle office and proud that our team is helping to promote diversity in our profession both here and more broadly across the country.”

Michelle works for clients across NSW and Queensland but her immediate focus as a new Partner is to assist in driving the businesses of those companies operating in the Hunter Valley.

Michelle’s experience includes acting for mining companies, property developers and state owned corporations in relation to sales and acquisitions, due diligence, infrastructure easements, land access arrangements, landowner negotiations, leasing and licensing and water licensing

Michelle attended Merewether High School and is a graduate of the University of Newcastle.  She has worked as a Senior Associate in McCullough Robertson’s Newcastle office for the past four years.
