McCullough Robertson’s managing partner Guy Humble has pledged to support this year’s St Vincent De Paul CEO Sleepout.

“Homelessness is a problem which affects more than 100,000 Australians. It is a situation one can find themselves in literally overnight and can be caused by any number of factors including domestic and family violence, mental health issues, financial hardship or relationship and family breakdowns, it can happen to anyone.” Mr Humble said.

It is often easy to get caught up in the bustle of our own lives and we tend to forget about the struggles of others. “My wife Jocelyn is a social worker who is confronted on a daily basis with the plight of the less fortunate.

"Jocelyn has worked in both the community and hospital environments and has worked with many people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. This constant reminder of the risk and impact of homelessness in Brisbane has given me a heightened awareness of the difficulties faced by some of our fellow Queenslanders.

"Becoming involved with initiatives such as the CEO Sleepout gives me the opportunity to make sure we all share this level of awareness, while making a difference in the lives of those who need it”, Guy said.

Hearing about the trials and tribulations of the people Jocelyn encounters and seeing the effect their difficulties have on her, makes an issue such as homelessness a matter very close to Guy’s heart.

Guy has set his fundraising target to $5,000 and will stop at nothing to achieve it. “I’ve promised the staff at McCullough Robertson that if I reach my goal by 5 June, I will wear my pyjamas to Friday afternoon drinks.

More than just stopping by for a token beer, I have committed to stay until last call and even present the monthly staff awards – I will have no chance of blending in.”

On Thursday night, 18 June (which is currently forecasted for a low of 12 degrees), Guy will be joining 1,115 CEOs, including 180 in Brisbane, to sleep out on the concrete with nothing but a piece of cardboard and a sleeping bag.
