20 September 2012
The Ranamok Glass Prize, now in its eighteenth year, continues to encourage preeminent contemporary glass artists from Australia and New Zealand and has become a pivotal event in the Australian visual arts and craft calendar.
The exhibition will travel to Brisbane and will be on display to the public in the foyer of the Riverside Centre from Monday 24 September. The opening night event which is attended by leaders from Brisbane’s business and arts community will be held on Tuesday 25 September starting at 6.30pm.
This year the top glass prize was contested by over 100 artists, all vying for the $15,000 prize money and the honour of the title. This year’s winner is artist Denise Pepper for her entry ‘Punto in Aria’ (Stitches in Air).
The Ranamok Glass Prize is an annual acquisitive award for glass artists who are residents in Australia and New Zealand and for the 10th year is proudly sponsored by McCullough Robertson.
McCullough Robertson Partner, Damien Clarke, who is also on the board of Ranamok said:
‘McCullough Robertson is very proud to again support the Ranamok Glass Prize, it provides us an opportunity to support and promote the incredible skill of these contemporary artists’.
The prize is sponsored by over 30 companies, many of which are associated with the Australian coal mining industry.
The national tour of this exhibition began in Canberra on 15 August and will continue in capital cities as well as regional galleries around the country until mid 2013. The winner’s collection from 1995 – 2011 will also be exhibited.
