Come on a journey with us. At McR we do things differently. We invest in long term relationships with our clients and we want to do the same with our interns. A career with a firm should not be stressful and uncertain but rather an opportunity to build a rapport with an organisation where you can commence a long term career with confidence and security.
Our Intern Program is over two years and allows students to gain exposure to the inside workings of a commercial law firm, while becoming familiar with the McCullough Robertson ethos.
You will be placed in one practice group for each of the four week periods, allowing you the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within the one area, while becoming comfortable in your team environment and surroundings. The program allows you to observe and participate in the group and firm culture and you will be invited to attend social functions and activities during your time with us, and also in between times.
Interns are encouraged to participate in continued learning and development. Key features of the program are:
- introduction to the firm's history, structure and a commercial practice
- specially designed programs on CV building, career management, the graduate recruitment process, team building and networking
- opportunities to participate in the firm’s CLE program which is designed to demonstrate the continued focus on the development of our lawyers
- firm tour
- information technology and law library training
- the opportunity to meet our graduates.
2017 Internship dates: Applications are now closed for the 2017 program.
Our 18 month long Graduate Program consists of two nine month rotations, giving you the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within two practice areas of your choice.
Practice areas you may choose from include:
Induction and orientation includes IT systems training, matter management and networking events with senior members of the firm.
Your introduction to practice areas will include weekly sessions with industry specialists across all areas of law. Emphasis is placed on developing your skills as a lawyer through networking, pro bono work, presentations and client interviews.
Into the future you’ll have the opportunity to participate in a funded internal Practical Legal Training (PLT) course and internal Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses as well as seminars, conferences and other professional development opportunities.
